Sixteen years in, we’ve learned one delicious truth: a good slice can lift a whole day. Starting now, we’re extending Slice-It-Forward through the entire year so our Kalāheo and Kauaʻi school ʻohana feel that lift again and again.
How it works (simple & sweet):
-
Visit the bakery in Kalāheo and look for the Slice-It-Forward board near the register.
-
Write a note on one of our cards—mahalo to a teacher, counselor, cafeteria team, bus driver, or the whole staff.
-
Choose a school (K-12 or early learning on Kauaʻi).
-
Add a contribution at checkout. We batch contributions into full pies and deliver to your chosen school with your messages attached.
-
We’ll share updates on deliveries (and totals) throughout the year.

Why Slice-It-Forward?
In Hawaiian culture, ʻohana includes more than blood relatives; it embraces the community we care for—like our school ʻohana. With ʻohana comes kuleana, a shared responsibility to look out for one another. Slice-It-Forward is our bakery’s way of living that value—one pie at a time. AFFECT+1
We also strive to mālama ʻāina—to care for the land and its gifts—by sourcing locally whenever we can. Supporting educators who nurture our keiki, and supporting Kauaʻi growers whose ingredients fill our pies, are two sides of the same aloha. The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA)
What Your Note Can Say
Not sure what to write? Try one of these:
-
“Mahalo to the 3rd-grade team for growing curious minds!”
-
“To the cafeteria ʻohana—your smiles feed our kids, too.”
-
“For the bus drivers who start the day with aloha—this pie is for you.”
(Please keep messages positive and school-appropriate; we’ll review notes before delivery.)

FAQ
Can I target a specific team (e.g., counselors or custodial staff)?
Yes—write it on your card, and we’ll label the box accordingly.
Can I contribute from off-island?
Call the bakery; we can take a contribution and add your message remotely.
Is there a minimum?
Every bit helps. We batch contributions into whole pies so the entire staff can share.
Can I add multiple schools?
Absolutely—list them on separate cards so we can route correctly.

Our Language, Our Promise
You’ll see diacritical marks like the ʻokina (glottal stop) and kahakō (macron) in words such as Kalāheo, Kauaʻi, and ʻohana. Using them correctly is one everyday way we honor this place and its language. University of Hawaii+1
From our ovens in Kalāheo to classrooms across the island—mahalo nui for helping us Slice-It-Forward all year long. If your school would like to schedule a delivery window or has special instructions, please reach out; we’re happy to coordinate.
