World Chocolate Day — A Sweet Shout-Out to Kauaʻi Growers

Jul 7, 2026

mmmm…chocolate!

Happy World Chocolate Day! Chocolate is one of those flavors that never needs much convincing. It can be rich and elegant, playful and nostalgic, smooth and comforting, or bold and intense. Whether it is enjoyed in a pie, a truffle, a brownie, a sauce, or a simple square of good chocolate, it has a way of making a regular day feel special.

Here on Kauaʻi, we are lucky to have farmers and food makers who help make chocolate and coffee part of our island’s agricultural story. We want to give a special shout-out to local growers and makers, including Lydgate Farms, known for its Kauaʻi-grown cacao and chocolate, along with the many coffee growers and producers who work so hard to share island-grown flavor with residents and visitors.

Chocolate and coffee are natural partners. A slice of chocolate pie with a good cup of Kauaʻi coffee is the kind of pairing that makes you slow down and savor the moment. Both begin with farming, patience, care, and craft, and both remind us how much flavor can come from this island when local agriculture is supported.

Today is a perfect day to celebrate all things chocolate, and also to appreciate the growers, makers, roasters, and small businesses who help bring those flavors to life. Tell us: what is your favorite chocolate dessert, and do you pair it with coffee?
