Happy First Day Of Fall.. Kauai Style🍂🌴

Sep 22, 2026

Happy first day of fall! Somewhere right now, someone is pulling a favorite sweater out of the closet, watching the leaves begin to turn orange and red, and ordering a hot drink because there’s finally a little chill in the air. Here on Kauaʻi? Well… fall looks a little different. Our palm trees apparently didn’t get the memo they’re still green and swaying in the breeze. The ocean didn’t get the memo either. Still blue. Still beautiful. And as far as we’re concerned, slippers remain perfectly acceptable fall footwear. We’re definitely okay with that. Even without crunchy leaves under our feet or sweater weather outside, there’s something about this time of year that feels like a change. Maybe it’s because September quietly starts the countdown toward the holidays. Before we know it, Halloween will be here, then Thanksgiving, followed almost immediately by Christmas. And when you own a pie shop, there’s one holiday that starts creeping into your thoughts a little earlier than most: Thanksgiving. Yes, we’re already thinking about Thanksgiving in September. We know. Don’t rush us.  But fall also brings one of our favorite things comfort-food season. There’s something about warm spices, baked desserts, and familiar flavors that makes people happy. Maybe it isn’t even just the food itself. Maybe it’s the memories that come with it. A certain smell coming from the oven can take you right back to your grandmother’s kitchen. A favorite dessert can remind you of Thanksgiving when you were a kid, sitting around a crowded table with family and sneaking an extra bite when nobody was looking.

Some recipes get passed down through families for so many generations that eventually nobody even remembers where they originally came from everyone just knows you better not change the recipe!  That’s one of the reasons we love pie so much. Pie doesn’t have to be fancy. At its heart, pie is comfort food. It’s familiar, it’s meant to be shared, and it has a way of bringing people together. Here on KauaĘ»i, we also get to have a little fun with those traditional flavors. Who says fall has to mean only pumpkin and apple? Why not add a little island flavor with macadamia nuts, coconut, banana, lilikoi, chocolate, or something completely unexpected? So today, we’re inviting you into our imaginary Right Slice test kitchen. If we created the ULTIMATE FALL PIE, what would YOU put in it? Would you keep it traditional with pumpkin and warm spices? Go with apple and caramel? Maybe chocolate and macadamia nuts? Pumpkin and coconut? Or something tropical with a fall twist that nobody has thought of yet? Go wild. There are no wrong answers. Well… maybe there are a few wrong answers, but we’ll keep those to ourselves.  We want to hear your dream fall pie! If you could walk into The Right Slice this fall and find one brand-new pie waiting for you, what flavor would you hope to see? Don’t be afraid to get creative because you never know who from The Right Slice kitchen might be reading your idea and thinking, “Wait a minute…that actually sounds REALLY good.” Happy fall from our little corner of KauaĘ»i where the palm trees are still green, the slippers are staying on, and there’s always room for another slice of pie. 🌴🥧🍂
