You know those weekends when you have every hour accounted for? Groceries, laundry, yard work, and that one project you were absolutely going to finish last Saturday? Then someone says, “Let’s take a little drive,” and suddenly the chores can wait an hour. We’re big fans of that hour. Here on Kauaʻi, a simple outing can become the part of the week you remember most. A good conversation at the farmers market. Running into someone you haven’t seen in a while. Picking up something delicious and deciding to bring it over to a friend instead of heading straight home.
This Saturday, you can find us at both the Grove Farm Market in Puhi from 9:30 a.m.–noon and the First Saturday Kapaa Art Night from 4-830pm. Bring your shopping bag, browse the local vendors, and come say aloha. If your weekend takes you through Kalaheo, stop by our shop and see what’s available. Choosing pie together can be its own little adventure. There’s usually someone who knows exactly what they want before they arrive, someone who needs to consider every option, and someone who says, “I’ll just have a bite of yours.” We all know how that last one goes.
Perhaps you love the bright, tropical combination of mango and lilikoi. Maybe chocolate is usually your first choice, or a savory pot pie sounds like the answer to tonight’s dinner question. Ask us about the day’s selection we’re happy to help you decide. With Thanksgiving getting closer, there will be plenty of time for lists and planning. This weekend, leave yourself a little room to enjoy November before it gets busy. Take the detour. Invite a friend. Bring home something worth sitting down for. And if the laundry has to wait until after pie, we think it will understand.
