Lei Day on Kauai 🌺

Lei Day on Kauai 🌺

On Kauai, May 1st is about slowing down and honoring connection. You’ll see lei everywhere draped over shoulders, gifted with a hug, worn with pride. A lei isn’t decoration. It’s respect, love, and gratitude all wrapped into one. Each island has its own lei and color. Kauai’s is the Mokihana lei made from green Mokihana Berries, and the island color is Purple. Mokihana has a subtle anise scent, and it’s unique to Kauai, just like the people who call this island home.

Traditionally, lei are given to celebrate milestones, welcome visitors, or simply say “I appreciate you.” And there are rules never refuse a lei, don’t remove it in front of the giver, and always receive it with humility.

At The Right Slice, we see our pies the same way. They’re not just dessert they’re something you bring to a table to share, to celebrate, to connect. If you’re heading to a Lei Day event today, don’t show up empty-handed. A pie goes a long way.
